Library of the Year Award
Anaheim Public Library Named 2021 Library of the Year

Anaheim Public Library’s work to keep serving our community during the challenges of the pandemic have earned an exclusive national honor.

Anaheim Public Library was recognized as 2021 Library of the Year for its commitment to safely serving residents during the height of the coronavirus outbreak.

The national award, by leading library publication Gale/Library Journal, celebrates one library each year that shows exemplary service to their community with creativity and innovation. 
 
“Anaheim Public Library illustrated an unwavering commitment to serving the community, transforming library services, and working on the front lines to connect with residents who needed it most across the city,” said City Librarian Audrey A. Lujan.

Join us for a fun storytime plus live animal friends! We will nurture each child's innate wonder of the world around them. We will build empathy and a sense of connection with all living things. We will encourage children to ask questions, explore using all their senses, and embrace their role as stewards of this beautiful planet.

Reimagine Your Favorite Books Through Zines

Wednesday, July 14 at 11 a.m.

Learn about different types of zines, or handmade booklets, and create their own! Participants can pick up a kit with supplies from their neighborhood library branch.

This workshop series is a collaboration with Able ARTs Work, an organization that provides lifelong learning, community service, and vocational opportunities through the creative arts for people of all abilities and all ages.

Wearable Art - Part II: Patterns with Dye

Color your world in this follow-up to Wearable Art with the Fiber Friends! Learn how to take your knowledge of dyes to the next level by creating cool patterns on fabric and clothes! Participants will learn a few fundamental Shibori techniques using common household and/or office materials with inexpensive store-bought dyes.

Supplies: Water, salt, sugar, food coloring, 4 or 5 cups, cherry or grape tomato, one large cylinder, spoon, funnel, straw, tape, and eyedropper or pipette.

Learn about food science and make Rainbow S’mores Dip, Rock Candy, & Walking Water with Mr. Sam.

Rainbow S’mores Dip Supplies: Baking dish, chocolate chips, butter, marshmallows, toothpicks, and graham crackers.

Rock Candy Supplies: water, sugar, skewers, jar, Kool-Aid packs, and one clothespin.

Walking Water Supplies: water, food coloring, paper towels, and cups.

Library Locations & Hours

Anaheim's comeback includes the reopening of branches across the city after temporary closure to address coronavirus. 

Central Library, Canyon Hills Branch, Haskett Branch, Euclid Branch, Sunkist Branch, and the Anaheim Heritage Center are open.

Euclid Branch and Sunkist Branch offer curbside pick-up during library hours. Central Library, Canyon Hills Branch and Haskett Branch offer curbside service upon request.
